What’s up crypto peeps! It’s your girl
Maria here to deliver your daily dose of Bitcoin news!
Bitcoin has been a part of
our world since 2008 and we experience
its boom in popularity when it reached its all time-high of around $20,000 per 1 Bitcoin in December 2017.
This made us all curious about its potential, and the possibility of whether or not we should buy some
ourselves. In some cases others already
bought and stepped onto the Bitcoin
roller coaster and the same goes for the
celebrities we look up to.
Today we’ll be
taking a look at some celebrities who
have already invested in Bitcoin and
what they think about it.
The well-known actor Ashton Kutcher found his
way into our hearts when he first gained
popularity in the hit TV series “That 70’s Show”.
If you haven’t seen that, you’ll see him when you watch the later seasons of Two and A Half Men (when he replaced Charlie Sheen).
Or in movies like No Strings Attached, The Butterfly Effect and What Happens in Vegas.
A little less known fact about the
actor is that he is also the co-founder
of venture fund A-Grade Investments,
which has invested in bitpay, the payment
processor that allows merchants to
receive Bitcoin payments.
In 2013 he told TechCrunchDisruptNY:
“The bigger thing with Bitcoin is: what can that decentralized technology do?
The notion that we could civically monitor each
other in an anonymous way actually keeps the anonymity of the Internet, we don’t
have to worry about Big Brother and that same infrastructure that built out
bitcoin could be used in the security industry for mass good.”
5-Cent aka Curtis Jackson is an
award-winning American rapper with hits
such as In The Club and Candy Shop.
50-Cent made his belief in Bitcoin known to the world
when he came out with his album Animal Ambition in 2014.
Which means he’s been into Bitcoin for a while now, and accepted payment Bitcoin as payment way back.
His Shopify store partnered with payment processor BitPay to make the transactions.
He then forgot that he
accepted Bitcoins as payment
and let his account lie unused for years.
At the time, a single bitcoin was only worth $662.
An article came out about this on January 2018
saying that he found out about his bitcoin and cashed out.
Headlines reported that he made 7 to 8.5 billion US dollars. I mean, imagine
making that kind of money “accidentally”? Must have been the easiest money he’s ever made!
Mike Tyson, if you don’t know him, is a former professional
American boxer. His many life accolades include reigning as the undisputed
heavyweight champion, the youngest boxer to win a heavyweight title, and launching
a bitcoin app alongside his already pre-existing ATMs. A pretty far stretch huh?
Mike Tyson’s bitcoin company, called Mike Tyson Bitcoin, formally debuted its
bitcoin wallets in 2016. Although that they are currently not popular, the company
proves Tyson’s believe in Bitcoin. He also once said that “In a few years from now
Bitcoin and other digital currency are going to be a normal part of our
Those are just a few celebrities who believe in the power of
Bitcoin. Others such as Jaime Foxx, DJ Khaled,
Snoop Dogg, and even Childish Gambino have publicly stated their belief in the crypto.
